Miller & Long’s McMahon Co-Authors Concrete International Article
Miller & Long’s CEO, Brett McMahon, co-authored an article published in Concrete International, the monthly news magazine of the American Concrete Institute. Entitled “Basalt FRP Reinforcement in Concrete Topping Slabs in a Commercial Building,” the article features concrete topping slabs used in the 22-story Avocet Tower, a side-by-side office and hotel structure in Bethesda, Maryland. The slabs were constructed using basalt fiber-reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars; the article discusses the design and construction of the slabs as well as benefits of BFRP.
