Design Assistance
Design Assistance has been a fundamental part of our success since our founding.
In the 1950’s and early 60’s, we had to create a market for high-rise concrete construction. Concrete for high-rise building was still a rarity in those days, but we saw that this was the future. We achieved our position in the marketplace by educating ourselves and our customers on the advantages of concrete. Thus, it was to our advantage to constantly seek efficiencies in the construction process. From the start, our founders sought out opportunities to work with owners, engineers and architects to not only make sure that concrete was the chosen material, but that the design reflected as much of our knowledge of cost-effective construction as possible. Our philosophy has always been that a good, cost efficient concrete design will benefit both Miller & Long and our customers.
Over sixty five years later, the lessons of our founders are not lost on today’s leadership. As we have grown in volume and experience, our ability to add value for our customers has expanded. Our highly experienced Preconstruction Department teams work with our Engineering and Operations staff to provide detailed, comparative analyses of numerous options during the design process.
Typically, our many repeat customers come to us in the early stages of design. Budget pricing, schedule analysis, and logistics review are the core of our Preconstruction/Design Assistance service. Our Preconstruction Department works on everything from 90% Design Development blueprints to “napkin” sketches. Our portfolio includes virtually every kind of commercial concrete construction. We use that broad experience to review what is shown on the drawings, and more importantly, what is not shown. We will offer our suggestions, along with budgetary pricing derived from the more than 500 million square feet of high-rise concrete structures we have put in place. There is no other builder in our market with as much experience in any specialty.
The scope of our turnkey operations means that the pricing and suggestions we offer as Design Assistance carries with it the understanding that our price is a complete price. We understand that our customers are managing a large amount of risk at this early stage; they turn to us to provide them an opinion that they can reliably promote to their customer. Our turnkey approach also limits the “holes” and unknowns on an incomplete set of drawings by applying the knowledge earned on the construction of over 2,500 structures.
With more than half a century of experience from which to draw, our preconstruction services provide the most accurate and extensive cost projections and constructability analysis in the industry.
